Around the edges of the lake and surrounding area there is no shortage of things to do.
Its hard to pick just a few, but here are some highlights
The region has so many wonderful cultural sights beautiful villages. Saint Guilhem an is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and considered one of the most beautiful villages in France.
Just 20 mins drive from Meze is a beautiful 11km sandy beach on the Med. It stretches from Sete to Marseillan.
Dotted along the beach are fantastic relaxed restaurants.
For the wine lovers out there, Meze provides the ideal base to discover the local wine route, home of the famous Picpoul de Pinet.
If you fancy a ‘city-day’ Montpellier comes highly recommended. It is a beautiful and dynamic town, steeped in history and culture.
Water jousting is a unique experience . If there is a tournament during your stay. Find a pitch at one of the many bars at the port and cheer on your team!
L’étang de Thau is famed for its oyster farms. The Bouzigues oysters are renowned throughout Europe as some of Frances finest.
The historic town of Sete is well worth a visit. A network of canels run through the town and connects the lagoon to the Meditereanan sea.
During the summer months a water taxi runs from Meze harbour to the Sete city centre
La Grotte de Clamouse is a vast network of underground caves with stalactites and towering Stalagmites. It is said to be the largest of its type in Europe. Guided tours are approx 1hr 30min. A great day trip would be to visit the caves, the village of Saint Guilhem and then cool off in for a bit of Wild River Swimming or Kyac down the rapids at Le Pont du Diable.
For those wanting to travel further a-field for some winter snow and skiing, the Pyrenees is only a 90 mins drive from Meze.
